Lets talk about Couponing

first is that really a word? because I'm pretty sure its a made up word. but I digress, Lets all have a conversation about coupons.

When we were back home in Oregon I was an avid coupon cutter and a less than half time coupon user.

I had an epic fail of coupon usage. I would either not pay attention to the adds, forget the cupons at home, or just get lazy.

but now that we're getting settled and getting our house together. I really want to buckle down and get our bills under control. The price difference in groceries alone between Oregon and California is AMAZING! my quick 20.00 - 30.00 grocery trip back home is now a 50.00 - 60.00 trip here. Of course it also has a lot to do with the fact that we lost a lot of our 'essentials' in the move, so we're slowly building that back up. But with me not working at the moment I really feel like its mostly my responsibility for the cooking, cleaning, and shopping of the house.

B did not put this on me (hello Suzy Homemaker), I need something to do, so i'm making this my thing.

So I asked a couple of people about it and A good friend of mine Carly @ Not Your Ordinary Page turned me onto a site called Hip2Save.

She linked me to a page on H2S Titled Couponing 101. I watched the video's and really got into it. I'm really excited.

Today I went out and got the dividers, a binder, and those baseball card holders.

I got to thinking about everyone else. What do they do for coupons? Does anyone else kind of obsess over them like i do?

If you do coupon, Do you use your Sunday paper only? or do you use websites as well?

What is the method to your madness?

What are your tricks and tips to help out a n00b like me?

I have a feeling this topic will become a running trend in my blog in the near future.

after I get this sorted out my next hill to climb is Meal Planning!

The Fit Rotty Blog has been updated

Along with the minor weight loss. I have some other good news!!!

WE GOT A HOUSE... hopefully.

They're drafting up our lease as we speak

The details....
The blurb:

This 3 bedroom 2 bath is move in ready as of September 1st. The property is located in a great school district. An elementary school is located within walking distance and a local park is just minutes away. This home is also tucked near the back of a court which insures little to no traffic.
Inside you will find upgrades throughout the home. Wall to wall carpet, new energy saving windows, a new dishwasher, refrigerator, and an alarm system, just to name a few. The backyard has a patio cover and multiple fruit bearing trees. In fact the yard is worry free, due to front and back timed sprinklers and professional landscaping included. Garbage is also included in the rent.

Stories:1

Bedrooms / Baths:3 / 2

Estimated Unit Size: 1,334 Sq Feet (124 Sq Meters)

Parking: Garage, 2 Spaces : $0

Furnished:No

Year Built:1976

it has refrigerator, dishwasher, washer & dryer, central Air & heat, carbon monoxide detector, amazing back yard, alarm, and ceiling fans.

This is the 1st house we saw. We got to meet the landlord and the rental agent. The landlord is a really nice old lady. This is her first rental property. She's so so sweet.

The rental agent is kind of a nerdy/nervous person. I've dealt with a lot of rental agencies in Portland. and he just seemed nervous and really REALLY green, but eager

Must step away from amazon

I've spent the first half of my lunch hour going over the books i just added, looking at the next book in the series's I've been reading and so on. my book wish list is seriously 6 pages long.

seriously 135 books on the list

granted some of them I've borrowed from friends, but want to buy and own.
some of them (the twilight series) I've read, but i want the box set

but I'm seriously obsessed.

and yes 99% of them are vampire books.

I can't wait till B gets a job so that i can support my book habit.

I'm trying to finish the black dagger brother hood series
then i have book 2 in the immortal instruments series.

then i can venture into new series or finish other series.
must finish these first.

must.not.buy.books

p.s. when my list is printed... its 12 pages long.
WHOA!

I would have Rocked the 1950's

I could have totally rocked the 1950's house wife era! I decided that today was "spoil my husband day"

1) made his coffee
2) made waffles (his favorite) with his favorite syrup.
3) doing laundry
4) took out the the dog (normally his job)
5) took out the trash (normally his job)

Dinner, I'm thinking about something fancy like stuffed shells. or pot roast (but we had that last weekend).

I'm also currently washing all the bedding.

I woke up this morning feeling slightly better, I'm still super stiff, and a little sore, but I'm in a GREAT mood.

Lets talk about the fashion too. OMGSH!

Look how amazing their dresses they have. I'm So in love with them. Back when woman with curves were a thing to be treasured and adored. they were classy and elegant. They were perfectly styled, never a hair out of place.

Speaking of hair...

The hair. Mostly short as far as i can tell from what little research I've done, and it it was long was mostly in a pony tail. So perfect, so sleek, so adorable, so feminine! goodness.

I could go on and on about the 1950's. the bathing suits, the subtle sexual undertones... I just love it all.

Wine Help

So I've become a little burnt out on beers and am slowly craving wine more and more.

Please help a wine virgin out.
Recommend your favorite wines (with links if possible so i can see).

Tonight i got 3 bottles from local wineries
I got 2 from Honeywood Wines

And then i got 1 bottle from Bridgeview Wines I have seen these a couple times before, i figure its a good place to start.

what are your suggestions?

I have found that I'm a bigger fan of red wines than white. but I'm willing to try anything.

Friend Making Monday (almost)

Yes i know its still Sunday, but if i wait till tomorrow i know it'll never happen. so here comes

This weeks topic is:

What are you going to be for Halloween?
In case you aren't familiar with F.M.M. AeFillkins does Fmm or Friend making Monday every Monday. She introduces a question and then has a link-a-mabober at the end of her post to introduce people. Its 7 shades of awesome.

I've been thinking about this topic a lot lately

1) B will be out of town (... again)
2) it has to be conservative
3) the only place I'll have to wear it is during my coaching session for my juniors that morning.

So these are the ideas I had... were lets say to risque for the place's I'd wear them. I thought about being a real life version of a Disney princess (who doesn't want to be a princess?) but then i realized that all my Juniors were boys and the whole effect would be lost on them. so.... I'm at a loss for what to be for Halloween. How can i be girly and yet still have some standing with 5 3-6 year old little boys.

Any ideas?

I'd be happy to hear them?!?

I thought about just wearing my Air Force ACU's and rocking those. 1) no money 2) i know they fit and 3) I'd relate to the boys.

but i don't want that i want to 'be' something or someone for Halloween. At this point I'm fresh out of ideas.

Here's the ideas i had, if Brian was still going to be in town...

I thought a saloon girl and cowboy would be a cool idea. B would have had to 'dress up' that much. and i could be a saloon girl, which would have been awesome.
We could have been pirates!! pirates!!! who doesn't want to be a pirate?!?

I could have been a gangster/mobster. that would have been awe.some!
We could have been Mario & Peach! how cute would that have been?! I would love to be peach! LOVE!!

But, I've always wanted to be a sexxxxxxy cop. but nope. that's not going to happen. To sexxxy.
So if you had to get up and get dressed EARLY Saturday morning and coach a group of teeny boys, what would you be?

I Want That Thursday

Want & Got Thursday

So I've been eyeing this for almost a year now. but i finally got it onsale at Walgreens for $9.99.

The technical name is: Rival 4071-WN 32-Ounce Hot Pot Express.

but thats just the fancy name for an Electric Tea Pot!

I love to drink tea when the weather is cold. but I haven't splurged and bought one to keep at my desk till this week. I'm totally in love with it! it kind of makes a weird noise when its heating up, so if you have a quite office this isn't for you. but it heats up in less than 5 minutes. Its so great.

I don't put my tea bags in the pot because i'm afraid that it'll stain and put a 'perma-taste' in the pot. so i just hang the tea bags from my mug and pour in the water. I love it so much I also put Splenda in my tea. I prefer splenda to sugar... less calories.

OKAY! seriously 1 packet of real sugar has 23 mother effing calories in it! 23!!! Thats INSANE!!
So i bought the splenda with the gram of fiber. I put 2 packets in my first cup and that lasts me all day. I might have to put one more packet in at the end of the day, but normally not at all.

I love this!!
If your a tea fan, this is totally worth the 10.00.

The Cricut Machine is a crafters wet dream! seriously. This thing is amazing. Have you seen the infomercials about it?

I think I'm in love with this little machine. Un-naturally in love with it.
They have these cartridges that contain things that have different items to cut out!
this isn't a want. this is a future have! I love it!

I Want This Thursday

Baking Edition.

I have a secret Dream that i can be a professional baker and own a little shop down town somewhere. just a quaint little shop.

So yes, i know I'm freaking weird. but i LOVE LOVE LOVE to bake. I have a wish list on amazon dedicated to my baking fetish.

but any who. these are my current crave.

Wilton Excelle Elite 6-Cup Mini Fluted Pan

Chicago Metallic 12-Cup Lift & Serve Single Squares Pa

Norpro Mini Cheesecake Pan

Mini cheesecakes? are you kidding me? how bad ass would i be if i could master the art of the mini cheesecake?! That would be awesome!

There is 5 pages worth of my baking obsession on amazon. yep, 5 pages. i know. i told you it was a fetish. I'm well aware of my sickness. there might be a 12 step program for it, but I'm pretty sure I'd want to bring a bake good basket to each meeting which would be totally counter productive. so I'll just deal with it.

Maybe later we can get a husband confession of the cabinet I've taken over in our tiny ass kitchen completely dedicated (or close to) to my baking addiction. lol. its a bad sickness. but at least mine winds up in tasty pastries and not scummy hotel rooms and such.

okay, enough drunken ramblings for one night.

i promise I'll be back around for confession Friday. and i promise I'll get back around to my normal blog stalking, but for now I'm finding my husband FAR to entertaining. lol. be well my loves.
